d) Open US bank accounts.  It is importan to set-up accounts upon arrival in the US to provide you with a safe monetary storage center, liquid accessibility, and product options.  Choose a financial institutions that meets your needs primarily in location and is convenient for you and your family to access.  Spend time familiarizing yourself with the online banking function and locating nearby ATMs.  Most financial institutions will open any type of deposit account with no SSN.  We suggest openin a Savings, Checking, and Money Market account initially.  They savings will be a place to store extra funds, checking will store the money that you plan on spending and using, and a money market will yield a higher interest rate typically to store over $10,000.  You will receive a debit card and checks for your new checking account.  Remember that a debit card has a credit logo, these funds do come out of your checking account and are not a loan.  Your checkbook typically arrives in 5-7 business days, ask for temporary checks that can be printed immediately and come in sheets of 4-12 checks at a time.  You will need checks for some intial payments for apartment, driver licenses and utilities.
